Xin Yi is an AHPC-registered Senior Occupational Therapist who supports children in developing the practical skills needed for learning, school participation and greater independence in everyday life. Her current caseload includes children with handwriting and related functional difficulties, with progress observed in the areas targeted during therapy.
When a child experiences handwriting difficulties, Xin Yi looks beyond the written output to understand the underlying barriers. She considers areas such as fine-motor control, hand strength and dexterity, visual-motor integration, posture, motor planning, attention, task organisation and writing endurance. This enables her to develop targeted intervention based on the child’s individual profile rather than using a one-size-fits-all programme.
Xin Yi previously worked as a Teacher Assistant at Pathlight School, where she supported classroom management, prepared learning materials and provided one-to-one guidance to students requiring additional support. Together with her Diploma in Psychological Studies, this experience helps her understand how a child’s development, behaviour, attention and learning environment can affect participation in school.
Xin Yi also brings more than five years of acute-hospital experience and has progressed to the role of Senior Occupational Therapist. The functional assessment, clinical reasoning, goal-setting, progress monitoring and multidisciplinary collaboration developed through this work help her examine how the child, task and environment interact. Her aim is to provide structured, engaging and practical therapy that helps each child experience success and participate more confidently in learning and everyday life.
