Shan Shan — Senior Counsellor

Shan Shan is a Senior Counsellor and Clinical Member of the Singapore Association for Counselling. Her professional experience spans counselling in a mainstream school, specialist work within a higher-education institution, and family and child counselling in a specialised clinic. She holds a Master of Counselling (Advanced), specialising in Family Therapy, and a Bachelor of Counselling.

Her approach is holistic, strengths-based and family-centred. Rather than focusing only on difficulties, Shan Shan helps children and families recognise the abilities and resources they already possess. She tailors her support to each child’s individual needs while creating a safe, nurturing space where they can feel heard, understood and supported.

Shan Shan works closely with parents, teachers and other professionals to build a consistent support system around each child. As a Registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator, she is equipped to help caregivers better understand children’s emotional needs and strengthen parent-child relationships.

Her wider experience includes volunteering as a Victim Care Officer with the Singapore Police Force, leading programmes and training at Girl Guides Singapore, and serving as a youth leader in a secondary school. Together with her training in crisis response, family violence, psychological first aid, suicide intervention and trauma-informed care, these experiences inform her compassionate and thoughtful approach to supporting children and families.
