Liyana is an AHPC-registered, multilingual Senior Speech and Language Therapist with extensive experience supporting children across early-intervention centres, preschools, special education schools and community services. She holds a Master of Science in Speech and Language Pathology from the National University of Singapore. She provides therapy in English and Mandarin and also speaks Malay.
Her paediatric experience includes assessing and supporting children with autism, global developmental delay, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, developmental language difficulties, speech-sound disorders and social-communication needs. She also works with feeding and swallowing difficulties and supports children who benefit from augmentative and alternative communication.
For the past year, Liyana has also worked in a multidisciplinary early-intervention preschool serving young children with developmental and special needs. In this setting, she works alongside caregivers, educators, early-intervention professionals and allied health practitioners to support children’s functional communication, feeding and participation in everyday routines.
Liyana’s hospital experience supporting adults with communication and swallowing difficulties has further strengthened her functional assessment, caregiver education and multidisciplinary coordination skills. She applies these transferable skills thoughtfully in paediatric practice, adapting intervention to each child’s developmental level, family routines and daily environment.
